I agree, but just wait till the hover conversions come out, the Elise will probably "fly" better. because it hasn't got the aerodynamics of a brick like the VX220 has...

Not around here - I pass two CRXs before I get to the end of my drive...

S2 looks tha way it does because they had the money for the tooling. S1 looks like it does because they didn't have the money for tooling.
I'd probably go for an S1 sport160 but fitted with an engine that idles...

ever read a classic car mag? not all the first series are the most sought after, especially amongst Lotus's.

Elans: S3 or Sprints, not exactly the earliest models.

Europa: That'll be the Twincam.

Eclat/Excel: Its the Toyota based Excel that's favoured and the later model SE thats in demand.

Esprit: Who wants an early one?

Elans - the earlest Elans S1, S2 and 26R still command the premiums. I can buy a reasonable Sprint for £5k. You find a S1 Elan in the same condition as my S4 and I will gladly trade.

The twin Canm Europas were a totally diff car to the Renault engined pups.

Good early Wedge S1 Esprits are worth as much as later S2, S3.

Excels, Eclats are well in reality, worthless - an immaculate '89 Excel can be bought for £3k - shame as they are v v good cars. Can't understand their low values.

Elises - they are worth whatever the buyer is prepared to pay as with any car. Some like the S1, some the S2 -I love 'em both.

As the owner of both an S1 and now an S2 Elise, I can post a valid opinion.

The S1 was good, I thought I would never change it, however when I drove an S2 I was amazed at the improvement in ride and build quality. The S2 is the better car without a doubt.

The only critism can be the front styling. I prefered the front of the S1 at first, and in fact still do even though the S2 has grown on me.

What annoys me is that both times I bought an Elise, they later anounced that there will be a more powerfull version comming up!
