Cobra Alarm on Nov 97 Elise!

I have fairly recently purchased an Elise registered in Nov 97. The car has a fitting certificate for a Cobra A6422 alarm and this seems to do everything that it should.
Now that winter is upon us the car will stay in the garage. Therefore to save the battery I wish to disable the alarm. I was therefore a bit concerned that I did not appear to have the alarm override key that the manual speaks of (although I do have the immobiliser one). Examining the car I am unable to find anywhere to put a key anyway! (although I have hunted extensively above the passenger footwell)
Can anyone explain this, tell me how I turn off the alarm and perhaps more importantly if I do get stuck with the alarm on and the key fobs not working then how do I turn the alarm off?

Gordon check your insurance, even in the garage they may ask why the alarm wasn't on? if the worse came to the worse.
The "little dears" that tried to steal mine broke into the garage whilst I was asleep. It was a clearly an open and shut case but the insurance company asked me if the alarm was on whilst it was in the garage (it was). Maybe they were looking for a reason not to pay.
There are several trickle chargers on the market. It might be worth keeping the alarm on and your battery topped up with one of these.

It is certainly a very valid point and I agree that the insurance would probably insist that the alarm is on etc. However, my concern is what happens if I need to remove the battery for some reason. How do I make sure that the alarm does not go off? Also I could still be stuck with the key fobs not working and no way of turning off the alarm.

You said you only have one override key, - don't worry - I think that the one key is actually both.
That's what I understood anyway, but I haven't had to attempt to use it.
As mentioned before though, if you can, use a battery conditioner this should prolong the life and put off needing to replace the batter anyway.

Dude, your should have three 'keys' for your alarm. The square fob (changed to a kind of cobra shape later on), which has two buttons, they both do the same except the blue button deactivates the microwave alarm portion (apparently for when you want the alarm on with a animal inside!). The other two should be a normal key (with cobra symbol) and a barrel shaped immobilisor. The immobilisor is used when the alram isn't on and you wish to start the car. (remember that the car has two immobilisors, one with the car as such, and one with the cobra alarm. Now to the bit you asked, the small key is used to turn the alarm on and off and should be located on the back of the siren (rubber flap cap thing), where's the siren, well that should be pretty easy to find.
You might find your alarm certificate with your handbook,if so you should be able to contact Cobra to get a replacement key?
