Anyone ever heard of cracks appearing in the alloy tub of the 340 R - local guy was pretty upset about finding another one after the first had been repaired...naming no names to protect the innocent and those just about to be issued writs etc...

Nope. Never heard of it and it definitely shouldn't happen. Well, not on standard tyres/shocks anyway - if you put super sticky slicks and rock hard suspension on it then you're probably on your own.

AFAIK it's the same tub as the Elise and I'm off to Snetterton in mine on Saturday so whereabouts should I check?

Thanks - it was just an enquiry from a friend.... I was a bit surprised that's it has the same chassis as the Elise. Poor guy has only had it since nov 2001 and done 400 miles. Not a very good dealer either.

Well, nothing fell off at Snetterton but I'm still interested in knowing where these cracks are.

I suggest your friend gets in touch with the factory direct if the dealer is not giving satisfaction.

Thanks that sounds like good advice...

Dealers can easily get upset if you turn up
with the wrong kind of attitude.

This chap clearly wanted the performance of a
motor bike with Audi like reliability and build
quality.

He did not want to buy a TVR as he had heard they were
unreliable.

So he bought a Lotus.

Frying pans and fire spring to mind here....

I'll pass on the comments next time I'm in
his pub for a jar !
