We're hiring an ice machine and a genny. Have to leave the keg at home. And hopefully the Dubs will grow in numbers a little.

I'd love to go and bring the Kinky Bus, so plenty of room to bring a keg for each of us.

Unfortunately, I have no chance to get down there

wouldn't mind heading off to this, but i heard le_froggie cops are complete &*%^$'s handing out €1,000 fines for even minor infringements.

I think they've got a shoot-to-kill policy for ppl like me who travel around 80mph over the speed limit by times

Nah, the cops hang out on the main autoroutes where the bulk of the traffic goes. And even at that, we drove via Calais and only saw two speed checks the whole weekend. 161kph in a 130 got us a €90 fine and a slap on the back of the hand. Thats it.

The fines go up as the speed goes up, but at 80mph over the limit, they'd probably give out a driving ban for 30 days, and as a biker, you generally wouldn't have a passanger who could drive the bike for you, which means you'd be knackered. We basically cruised at between 160-180kph the whole way.

But go, it's a great event, Check out the Le Mans forum for info, stories and pics from this years event.

Hey Dubs,

I hope you guys are travelling on the Thursday this time. One of the best parts of the trip is the Thursday trek down and the Sunday belt back.

Looking to book the ferry and grandstands this week. We have TT and Beemer travelling from Clare this year.......some trek for those boys!

Yup.

So far we have a more than probable 8 going between 3 cars. A new Passat for me, Mini Cooper S and a '92(?) RX-7 tuned quite hard.

And yes indeed, my aim is to get everyone to take more time off to go on the Thursday, which means a Wednesday night ferry to holyhead if we take the same route. More than likely will as we may be picking up one or two on the M25 as we pass London. Have to get to the PH meet this year.

How are the boys from Munster going? Direct or through UK? I'm Still trying to figure route.

We plan, if it works out, to do the Goodwood FOS the next weekend as well, if the dates are together as this year was. If so it'll be a few days on a regular campsite in France or UK before Goodwood, and then home that Sunday. Will be waiting for date confirmation until going anywhere near booking.

Dubs.

Any other Irish up for it?????
I've got my route (LOOONG Drive) down to a tee so getting there is no hassle at all. Mail me for prices/general costs for this year if anyone wants, routes, timings blah blah blah. It's a blast.

My guys are all going through UK, hopefully on Wednesday night with a Speed Ferries crossing in the morning. IMHO the drive from the M25 to Le Mans is one of the highlights of the weekend, especially on the Thursday when the bulk of exotica is heading down. Nothing compare to driving through a tunnel north of Rouen in a convertible when three Fezza decide to blast through together.....oh the noise!!!

Lessons learned from last year:

1) travel in convoy...quick break for snacks at the petrol station somewhere 150km north of Le Mans....you will know it when you see it.....in to middle of no where and packed full of Le Mans heads...no long lunch...time is of the essence
2) dump team member at campsite and IMMEDIATELY race to Carrefour.......it took us 2 hours to get back from Carrefour as we left it too late in the evening.
3) fill pool and erect gazebo asap
4) turn up Radio Le Mans
5) commence beer mountain building
6) do not miss the ph meet on the Friday morning....another absolute highlight

Tsk tsk.

This is the Irish at Le Mans thread, not the I'm off to India and showing off thread . Sorry not to meet up in London, the lads had a fairly jammed weekend planned that I was unaware of. Deffo grab a few over Christmas. Have fun with the bird (flu!).

OK, who would like "Irish at Le-Mans" t-shirts? Thinking of getting a batch together.

Usual stuff.......a bit of the usual "is maith liom Porsche / mo gluastain"

you get the idea.

So, anyone else for Team Ireland.

Falling further and further away . Down to 4 possibles. Got your txt, I'm looking into arranging it. House is ready soon so money is a bit too tight for comfort. If I do a car trip, I want to at least be Le Mans or Goodwood. I'll get back to you soon.

Yep, as I discovered houses only get expensive once the closing happens. Fit out is so much more costly than I expected....an that was on a rental property!

My Brother and I are going to be down at the BeauSejours camp site from the Friday evening - any other Irish going to be in the vicinity to share a drop of wine / beer or two?
Have a great one!
