Hi all,
Am taking Griff to Carraroe in Galway, from Dun Laoghaire, will B roads in Galway be OK for suspension etc. See should look out for speed cameras on the way - what would they do to me, on the spot fine or what? Thanks for your advice.

Dunno about the roads down around Galway, but if they're anything like Donegal.....!

There's a grand total of 3 (yes, 3!) working gatsos spread around about 20 fixed installations in Ireland. You'll find it harder to drive without worrying about them.

However, there is a big federale crackdown on the roads at this time of year. Super-checkpoints with up to 20 feds pulling everybody! Just make sure your docs are in order and you haven't drank more that one pint. That's the limit here.

No such thing as an on-the-spot fine.

Sitting in Galway at the minute. Had my Boxster back over here at easter. The griff is built for these b roads....and not a speed camera in sight. No problems and lots of fun driving - enjoy the attention you will get! Most of the roads around galway brand new. The drive from Dublin will be half motorway.

Enjoy,

A

Just back from Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare over new years. Great roads. If you haven't gone yet, but I suspect it was over new years, drive down to the Cliffs of Mohar (sp?) via Ballyvaughan and Lisdoonvarna. Incredible drive and a lovley little feature called the corkscrew! It was bloody good fun in the Golf .

The cliffs are pretty cool too!

Fantastic roads alright - you can imagine my disappointment when I happened upon 'the corkscrew' only to find myself right behind... a feckin' bus. Still, the people taking photos out through the back window did perk me up a bit. Connemara is well worth a look, too. And north Mayo... and let's not forget Kerry...
