No improvement despite refurbished throttle bodies
Discussion
Finally, after a long odyssée of trial and error in finding the cause of hesitating/shunting at revs about 2000-3000 rpm, all is sorted again !
Short story:
- took off bodies, cleaned and put back in with the Powers flange gaskets.
- don't know how often i synchronized the airflow - can make it blind since.
- new throttle pots although the old ones were def ok.
- new lambdas - old ones were also ok.
- At last tried a set of bodies from a Tuscan MK2 --> problem sorted BUT had a new now: fallback to idle was too slow :-(
- Cleaned linkages, used gallons of wd40, readjusted throttle spring to have more tension --> nothing
- Recentered/loctited all butterflies --> nothing
I then decided to send my original bodies to Andy. They were soda blasted and he did the ball bearing mod.
He did a great job and sent them back much quicker than i expected ! Looking like new ones:
Now all problems are sorted ! No more hesitating/shunting (ok to be fair, 90% less than before - it's a speed six :-) ). Slow fallback to idle problem sorted ! Revving up/down is now quicker than ever.
I can highly recommend Andys work. He is a very helpful chap. He even ordered new throttle springs for me to let me save the postage to germany.
