Seems I cant do anything right. What I thought would be a nice easy job has turned into a right PITA.

Not for love nor money can I fit the fuel rail back onto the injectors. It wont push down and just seems to pinch the o rings.Tried lubricating with petrol but that didnt help.

Any tips chaps before I buy a Porsche.

Je ne happy pas.

Used a touch of grease on mine, popped back in relatively easy. Petrol will prob make it worse not better.

are you trying to but it back on already mounted throttle bodies ? if yes, did you loosen the throttle bodies, might give you a bit more play ?

Got it back on with a bit of smash but had fuel pi@$ing out as the o ring on one of the injectors must've been damaged....

I used some white silicone grease to lube the o rings and all went back together no problems. A small tube lasts forever.

I think some ordinary motor oil should also do it ?

Davey forgot to say that the ring got pinch on his first attempt
With a bit of grees helped no end
I can confirm that the speed 6 fuel rail is much harder to get on than the AJP 8
Fuel rail but it was a good day spent at Dave's house
He just needs to get some chock hob nobs or cookies

Not sure if you have already tried this, but I found it easier to put the injectors into the fuel rail first, then put them onto the bodies.

Its funny how some jobs turn out to be easy for one car but a nightmare on others.
I'm a mechanical numpty but my fuel rail was a doddle to get of and back on to allow me to get it powder coated. I removed the rail and injectors then put a bit of fairy liquid on the o rings and shoved it all back in first time.

I have (I think) an airlock in my radiator but try as I might I can't seem to bleed it properly. Others can do it in 5mins it seems, I've been trying for weeks frown

Now I'm really annoyed.Could torch the bloody thing. As said before one of the the orings got pinched so I got a new set(£8 minimum delivery! Robbing bar stewards).

Put the new set on,greased up nicely.Still no joy.Tried putting the injectors in the rail....nope .So back to tapping down with the mallet.Wiggle tap wiggle tap.Now more than one has pinched as I could see slithers of rubber where the rail sits on the injectors. Not even gonna bother trying to start it.

This shouldn't be causing such problems.I really have had enough with it now.I could understand if it was something complex but this is taking the pi#$ & I have run out of patience.

While pushing down the fuel rail, rotating/turning the injectors would help a lot...

Yep not an easy one but really four hands can help. Try warming the washers in hot water for a good while first, lube up the injectors and fuel rail sockets then starting at one end lay the rail onto the injectors twisting the rail slightly and the injectors as you go, helps if the rail is warm as this will cool the washers quickly if not (not in the oven just on the kitchen rad). The o rings can get caught so eyes open.

I have never managed to get the rail to go on flat all at once, I even tried two ratchet straps and pulling on.... no chance.

Best of luck,

J

After trying multiple approaches, this one worked easily:

Fit the injectors one by one on the rail first, using engine oil as lube on the 0-ring and wiggling them a bit- they slide right in

Mount the rail with the injectors on the throttle bodies - the assembly slides right in place as the or-ring housing on the bodies is much wider (this is the low-pressure side, no real need for a tight fit).
