I have just had a new oil sender fitted & my oil pressure seems a bit erratic,at 2000 rpm it jumps between 33 & 43psi, tickover is ok at 19psi but it was a constant 42/43psi before at 2000rpm .what should it be for an 01 4litre ?
Mine is not consistant, get's worse when hot.
I've had a few and none have ever read the same.I was told not to worry as long as it doesn't drop below 10psi per 1,000rpm.I think that was what i was told a while ago.

I have had 3 or 4 of the things fitted due to them leaking... they all read different, currently read 45ish driving 23ish idle but can drop to 10 when hot.... I have done 31k miles since new so ...
Doh - oil pressure is SHOULD vary with load and temp. This is normal. some cars gauges just aren't sensitive enough to pick it up.
