Let me just say that I am really sorry that this has happened to you.
I sold this car in absolute good faith and can assure you that it has never been abused whilst in my care, although what happened in the first 18k miles I have no idea.
As far as the Slik50 is concerned they would have known that from the sticker under the bonnet no genious required here.
Obviously when I bought the car I was aware of the possible engine problems and did everything possible to avoid this from happening including changing oil every 3k miles, no expense was spared in looking after what was my pride and joy.
The only reason for selling was the requirment for a new project car for our business.
As you are aware on the two test drives the car ran without fault and there were no signs of impending doom, the valves etc had been checked recently and no signs of problems were reported.
I always read the reported problems on this forum with some concern that maybe owners were perhaps not looking after their cars correctly and therefor the resulting engine problems were of their own doing, but knowing the time and effort that has gone into maintaining this car that would seem not to be the case and perhaps some blame should be laid fairly and squarely at the door of TVR.
If any confirmation is required of the time and effort spent on all my cars speak to the wife, i get enough grief over it.

It's very easy when you are standing there looking at a broken engine to cast blame where it may not be due.

I'm a little worried that SS Tech quoted £15k and then retracted the figure, who were you talking to and why would they say something that now appears to be without foundation.

I think you are looking for a secondhand engine to get you up and running as cheaply as possible. Then you can settle down and enjoy the car. £15k for an engine is a joke! You can get another car for not much more!

I do wish you luck in comming to a satisfactory solution and would suggest that you explore all avenues open to you before making any decision to part with more cash. Get the best deal you can, bitch and complain you have every right!

Regards
David

have a few speed six engines in stock, standard
and S spec. Cost is £4000-£5000 depending on age

Spoken to the guys at DV and they were very helpful. They have a very low mileage 4 ltr with fire damage. Its an option. I also bought a new engine for my GTV as the following day the TVR blew up, I took the reliable GTV into work and hey would you beleive it, the bloody thing blew its gasket. And to add to it, the work will cost 2k, hense buy another engine, fingers crossed.
I should have a good idea what the options are by tomorrow. I'll keep you updated.

Update. I'm having an S engine fitted to an already heavily modified car. Just makes sense. Not sure on the final figure yet, but it'll be worth it.
Its having existing parts replaced with much higher quality parts, crank balaced and polished, and anything else that can be done to increase power and reliability. Should be turned around by the end of next week.
Cant bloody wait!!!!

Well its a little like Xmas time where you get your dream present, you play around with it for a couple of days, fall in love with it,:nits: then your mum takes it off you cos its got a little fault, not that I had a little fault!!! You will do anything to get it back as soon as possible.
Its maybe cost another 1 or 2 grand to get it back earlier than could of been done, but I'm gonna get a power ranger with laser eyes, missile launcher, and retractable arms. Its gonna be worth it.
