Hi all,

my Tuscan is starting with the whining sound which is imho caused by the half-time bearing.
Before I will start with the engine out job, I would like to know how to machine the sprocket correctly, that the wider bearings will fit on the shaft and the sprocket. Which dimensions are relevant?
I suppose that I need to machine the sprocket in this way, that the wider bearings line up exactly with the dimensions of the sprocket. Is this correct?
I do have 16mm bearings, the pocket in the sprocket is 13,6mm deep - so I need to machine the pockets of the sprocket on both sides 2,4mm additional - correct?
Many thanks for advise
Best regards
MikeB.

Note: You can't axially pre-load these bearings at all, and it's a bit of a faff to install other than to press on the inner race of the outer bearing, so you should also turn up a simple spacer to live between them on the shaft.

Thanks for your advice, actually I am going with decomposable bearings in 14mm width. Therefore I machined the sprocket wheel only a few mm deeper on each side. With this method, it is possible to mount three of four bearing rings to the correct position and in the last step you fill all rollers in the outer bearing rings, put the sprocket wheel in position and mount only the last inner bearing ring (sliding bearing seat on the shaft) to the right position.

That'd work too. Seems a lot of effort to just avoid turning up a simple spacer wink
