WHICH SPEED CAMERA DETECTOR?

The problem was that their database was too comprehensive. It was warning of camera sites all over the place, probably sites where a scamera van turned up 10 years ago and never returned. It all got on my nerves so I stopped using it and went back to my Pogo.
I believe the mobile sites are removed after a year if no further sightings - I can't recall when they changed. Personally I just use alerts to tell me when I should be more alert for Vans.spadriver said:
Get electronic garage doors-automic opening on approach and perfectly legal.
Only thing is the sender tends to jam cameras-so you REALLY do need the doors.)
Bit of info on the legality of jammers here :-Only thing is the sender tends to jam cameras-so you REALLY do need the doors.)

Maybe I will try again as I can subscribe for a 1 month trial period. The last time I tried was only last summer tho so I would surprised if it had improved that much.
I am certain they had the one year in place last year - problem is either you have all the recent scammer van locations, or you rely on someone reporting it before you pass it - both approaches have their issues )JimmyTheHand said:

Their alternative is the Road Angel which has a great database but I really have the problem with the looks. For me it looks like it belongs in a 1970's Datsun.

I swapped my Pogo with the black screen for a Road Angel Gem as that is all they could offer me and it was a downgrade.
Totally agree. The Pogo was great apart from the black screen issue which could have been resolved. Trouble is they were taken over by Road Angel who wanted us all to replace our Pogo's with their inferior product.I have had a RA classic for years down which still works well, I tried a coyote which was total crap it was supposed to update automatically but failed to even pick up the 50mph limit on the M1 after it had been in place for months.
I to am looking to pick up another device, does the RA gem plus have a memory where you can store camera's that are not on the system, and that does not lose it when the unit is turned off?

I bought the Road Angel Gem+ once but it was a bit thick - giving 30mph limits on motorways due to side roads etc. Unintelligent about direction of travel etc so took it back as it was always crying wolf. My Tom Tom Sat Nav (built in SIM data) is good but has some shocking gaps - still doesn't know about the M4 by Bristol cams after 12 months and have NEVER had a mobile van alert off it. Not once - and I always add them too.
Have been looking at Snooper 3ZERO but I'm not sure any of them are that well designed or do what it says on the tin or if the subscription is effective and is really up to date.
I wouldn't mind a bit of tech to backup my eyes and general observance of limits (as they are up and down more than a tarts... etc these days). This is all especially as the (rather useless) built in Sat Navs are so out of date in both my cars - but I fear there is no 3d party solution that is ergonomic, effective or dependable?

Yes AND Tom Tom did away with the alert distance setting via a software update which makes it a joke for motorway bridges subterfuge. It is way way to late pinging if you are doing 80 in a 70 (shock horror). You'll be before the beak before it pings... Useless.
It is the same with mobile camera vans on the Road Angel Gem+. Useless. So what are we concluding chaps - its mostly about supplier marketing BS and about their cashflow and there is no solution? Get a Radar & laser detector and dont rely on it much and hope for the best. Convert your phone into a Pocket GPS world app to boot? Might try all three and then add the eyeballs and aversion to inappropriate speed that have served me well for 7 clean years!
just came back from a trip to wales today and in one journey saw 3 speed check vans....
ive been looking at a detector and was sold on getting one of these that download/update the positions, but that wont detect these bloody vans..
what do i need please 2 detector, one for cvan one for everything else or is there a all in one that you can update plus it sees lazer and radar signals..
luckly all 3 times i was in traffic, so it would have warned me even if not pointing directly at me... or is it only if direct??
thanks dom
