I need to create a custom cable for the audio harness in my car, however I need help identifying what type of plug I need.

It's the one circled in red. Any idea what type it is?

Thanks!

pretty sure it`s a 2 pin molex but you could use a molex connector without any issues

I would just use a terminal block.

Would that be reliable enough for a CAN2 bus signal?

The idea was to also avoid damaging this cable and creating a "Y" split cable with two identical plugs, and a cable leading off to where I need it to go. That means the modification can be removed without leaving any damage to the harness or OEM cables. (The audio harness cost me a small fortune so I'd rather not hack it apart if I don't need to! smile )

No idea. If I'm doing something "permanent" I tend to use the smallest terminal block that will fit, then once the wires are screwed in securely, fill in each terminal end with a blob of hot glue. They never come out or break off. The glue takes all the strain. I've never tried it on anything that was carrying a digital signal. Seems to work fine for analog audio cables.

I guess that makes sense. If I can't get those molex plugs, I'll give your idea a go....

Molex is pretty standard for computer power stuff, might be worth looking on that side of things if you can't find anything from an ICE perspective.

Looks like Molex Mini-Fit Jr. If it is, Farnell or RS will sell them, along with the crimp terminals you'll need.
