Stealth install
Discussion
Good day all. I'm looking for a way to install ICE in my '79 930. Basically, I'd like a unit behind the lower dash or under the seat with a USB input to connect my iPhone/Pod to and feed two or four speakers.
Doesn't have to blow the windows out, just something to keep me company on long journeys. Any advice?

Pardon my complete ignorance!

You really should find a decent ICE installer, but if you want to go it alone go for something like ....
A mechlass unit so no CD, these tend to be shorter so easier to hide. Most modern head units are going to look out of place in a 70's Porsche

You really need more power, so something like the Alpine power pack should boost it well enough

You then need to sound deaden the doors and fit some half decent speakers,
Some of the newer digital amps have a small footprint, you just need to decide on a budget.

I would take a look at some of the Parrot Bluetooth kits. I am assuming you have 'some' entertainment in thecar at the moment.
The parrot kit just piggy backs on the existing set up. It can provide a small discrete remote to answer calls and control the music.... as well as a USB socket to charge your phone on longer journeys. Very slick and also produces a decent quality of sound.

Hi,
In order to keep a very simple install so that not too much 'originality' is potentially lost, and if as you say you just want something to listen to, then consider adding a modest powered 2 channel amplifier that has a Bluetooth connection for Audio Steaming. You'd only have to install that and a pair of decent quality component speakers. Simply stream the audio from your iphone / device !
Just £60 gets you this - http://www.celsusice.co.uk/shopdisp_6745.php
It's not very powerful in terms of RMS power output, but if you can find relatively high efficiency component speakers then even in a potentially noisy'ish Porsche, the result for the audio might well be enough for what you want!
Cheers, Dennis!
