Hey guys,

Just bought this little dashcam for my first car as I had a minor accident and as I'm a young driver the insurance treat me like a criminal. I am just wondering if anyone out there who owns this cam has sussed out a way of getting it to automatically power on with the car as well as turn off when the engine has been turned off etc.

Thanks in advance
Sean

Is it powered off the 12v socket?

If so and it's not turning off and on with the ignition, your 12v socket may have a permanent feed.

A decent dashcam should handle that - most have a parking mode which reduces consumption while still being semi-active.

99% of dashcams auto power on with the ignition. Check the settings menu of the device first.

I've been trawling through the settings, I think my 12v has a constant feed, any ways of fixing that?

Wire it up so it doesn't.

Nothing like stating the obvious, how do I do that on an 06 polo?

Buy one of these...

Wire it into a 12v switched fuse (normally side of the dash on VAG cars) and plug your dashcam into that socket.
