MR2 remote problem
Discussion
Hello PH people,
I have a 2006 MR2 roadster.
On Friday i went to use it for the school run. However, it was as dead as a dodo, I think the passenger door had been left open a little and the interior light had killed the battery over a couple of days.
I have since charged the battery, but it still won't start, it turns over rapidly but no sign of firing up. The remote will now also not open the doors, or lock them, and the immobiliser light appears to be flashing constantly (hence the lack of starting I assume). I have replaced the battery in the key, in case that was the problem, no difference - i can see the light flash in the remote when i push the buttons, so it is trying to do something.
Any clues on why the key has suddenly stopped working - anything to do with the battery being removed from the car?
Help - I guess I can take the roof down and use it as a skip, as that's about all I can use it for right now.

Sounds like your immobilser has lost its memory settings and needs to be re-paired with the key?

Update. RAC came out, after several checks and tests it seems to whole thing was caused by 2 blown fuses. One a run of the mill 15amper in the rear fuse box. The other was unusual it was the big 80amp fuse in the same rear fuse box, RAC man says its very unusual for the big fuse to blow, but blow it did. Both now replaced and everything is working OK .
