Hello, I'm new to pistonheads and beyond a noob when it comes to cars I'm hoping g somebody can help me out. I just recently bought a car and to be honest i have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at really. The guy that sold me the car said it had some kind of immobilizer and if I leave the key in the battery will run down. after some Google searches I found it to actually be a battery isolator my question is should this be running the battery down or is there likely be be a bigger issue and how hard is it to remove the isolator? Or at least by pass it? The car is a ford focus Ghia 2.0l. 2006

Sounds to me like the car has a battery drain problem and as an easy fix they have fitted a battery cut off device. If you leave the key in the device then the battery will drain, remove the key and it's isolated so can't drain.

That is exactly my thinking also. Would it be possible or advicable to by pass the radio and central locking so they worked without the isolator key in. Ooorrr is it worth trying to get the battery drain issue sorted? I assumethat would be costly.
