You're absolutely right about its mounting not being able to hold the unit. I tried it on the top of my dashboard initially but after it flew through the two front seats under acceleration I had to place it at an angle on the steering wheel cover.
I have also found the accuracy of its positioning to be suspect too, it keeps displaying side road limits on the motorway and a few camera sites that I know have never been used. I guess it is a case of letting RA know these things and hope for a sensible reply.
Well you've had the Pure for a few weeks now. Any more thoughts and did you solve the mounting issue?

I just got a letter from RA offering the Pure for £149 so I'm guessing they're not selling like hot cakes.

Main problem though is the dash mount. Cornering "enthusiastically" in my Porsche results in the Pure ending up in the footwell....
Nutsy
No problems with the Pure hanging on in my Quattro... I must be driving like Miss Daisy

No problems so far and I 'm beginning to like the unit, as I have mentioned I'm not keen on the active camera reporting. The flaw being that it does inform you of a potential camera location very accurately but you have to press the two buttons on top to report it as active. On one occasion by the time I'd done this I'd run out of time so it went non reported as active.

Hi, not sure anyone can help me?

I’m looking for the road angel gem/pure software for MAC/OS as the RA website has been refreshed in the last few days and all the download links are off line. Not sure if anyone has the installer in their download folders???

I phoned RA today and it’s gonna be a few days before the website is back up. My new Pure is a little Brick currently!!

How are folk finding their Pures?

I have had numerous issues with mine...

First there was an overheating issues, then blue glue from inside the unit melted out the holes on the back during a hot day. They told me the unit was not to be left in direct sunlight - it’s a device designed for car dashboards?!

The other ongoing issue is it’s innability to take a charge. It regularly turns off then restarts or just won’t keep a charge when plugged in.

Not impressed.

That's bad, I bought mine with reservations due to the Gem going t*ts up way before it should. So far I haven't had any problems apart from the rather weak magnetic base that seems to be OK so far.
In my Minivan I've positioned it right up front so I'll check to see, although I always take it off when parked to prevent car crime but also exposure to the sun.
Mine is connected to a source of power all the time in my Mini but in my new car I don't want trailing wires so just ensure I've a good charge that seems to last for hours.

I have had my Pure since they came out and have really struggled with it.

The main reason to upgrade was my Gem struggled with the heated screen in my Disco 5 but the Pure is worse I drove 200 miles to Gatwick and it still had no satellite signal.
The speed indicated was miles out I even managed 30 miles an hour when parked.
I have contacted Road Angel and they have said there is an updated version coming out last month!1

I have even installed a gps signal booster, pure is better but still has problems.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else had these kind of issues?

PURE 6 months old now. Hardwired and on dash mount. No problems at all. Love it. I do run Waze and occasionally Cyclops too on a serious night, but always trust the PURE most. Very satisfied customer.

Long term report here. Right no provision for a camera report button as on the Gem is a serious oversight. This week travelling along the A272 there was a purge with on average two camera vans along the road from Petersfield to Winchester for at least a week.
The Pure did not report/highlight any, so I couldn't set it as active plus who wants the frig of reporting them to RA.
So overall the Pure is a nice unit but with serious limitations, as I have mentioned I can't/don't want to mess around with Waze which is probably good and more proactive due to diligent members.
