I have a 2010 Mazda MPS with the Bose stereo, and it's just started whining when the radio is on. If I tune it manually it goes away until its tuned to a station.

It doesn't do it on aux or CDs.

Anyone got any ideas?

Check passenger seat for wife or girlfriend.

If empty, whining could be interference from a cheap phone charger / usb adapter, or a bad earth somewhere. Does the pitch change with engine revs?

Nothing plugged in, it seems to fade after 15/20 minutes, but if i stop and then start it comes back.

Back in the day, it used to be a case of fitting a suppressor to the alternator although I'm not sure how well that would work with modern cars.

Could be a loose connection, does your model of Mazda have a noise filter for the Bose? Could try replacing it if it does as they are quite cheap

That was my first thought, but its been about 20 years since I played with a car stereo lol.

But, i'd have thought modern cars would have sorted this.

If you de- tune the radio it will mute the sound. Is it the Clarion unit do you know, Bose are purely the acoustic tuning.

Not sure, its the standard one that comes with the car.

The noise seems to come and go now.
