Gain is totally dependent upon the combination of hu, amp and speaker. Tweeters need little power to drive them, so maybe back the gain off for now and adjust if needed once you have the mids sorted?

Or just lower all the frequencies above 3.15k or whatever you have the HPF set via the EQ on the HU.

I think the HPF is actually set at 4k so i might tweak it to 5ish.

I was going to get the door panels off this afternoon but the forecast is crap again for today.

Wait until you have the mids setup with the correct crossovers before tuning further.

You may find that they balance the tweeters and you simply need to reduce HU volume.

If you can't work on the mids, you could try setting the time alignment for the tweeters?

Funnily enough I did mess about that when I switched to network mode.

I think like you say, I’ll get the mids sorted and then start again.

Ok so finally managed to get the other crossovers removed and there didn’t seem to be that much of a difference like it was when I removed the ones from the tweeters.

I guess I’ll now need to reset and start from the beginning with the sound set up etc!

The effect will be more noticeable with the tweeters as you were getting that bump at 4k, now there is greater separation. The mids are still getting their full signal.

Well, after a few weeks messing about, i think the problem could be the mid/bass drivers, and no matter how much i try i just cannot seem to lose the harsh(?) presentation.

I mean, removing the crossovers has improved it no end, but i just think these main drivers arent for me, so i am now on the lookout for some alternatives that a slightly warmer.

Trouble is, the tweeters will probably have to stay as they are the only ones that i can find that will fit in the OE holes on the dash.

I have been looking at the Dynaudio MW162s.

You could try Morels also but you probably won't be able to buy them without the tweeters also.
