Hi all

I have recently installed an additional carplay/android auto unit into my Discivery 4. I really like it.

However, I've noticed that the volume is considerably lower than that of the radio or a CD.

The volume on the unit is at max, and the volume on my phone is at max.

Does anyone have any pointers how I can get the volume more consistent with the radio and CD or is it something I just have to put up with? I would love to be a hooligan and play 'comfortably numb' (that solo) whilst obeying all speed limits and keeping appropriate stopping distances.

Thanks

Pic of unit, not my song choice.

I had a similar problem with my BMW when I connected my phone. The problem is that the aux is really a line in and the phone or screen is probably outputting a lower power signal intended for headphones. I solved mine with a portable headphone amplifier, but my usb and aux sockets are in the arm rest, so everything was hidden.

As above, the 'headphone' socket is power limited so you don't deafen yourself - so you need an amplifier or (the way I did it) get a bluetooth adaptor that plugs into the AUX and connect your phone to that...

This is what I use in the car, it’s a usb portable DAC.

I also bought the one below but use it mainly for the commute to work these days. This ones definitely better, the dragonfly above maxes out at 96khz, the s9 below can play music at a much higher quality but I found it can crackle sometimes and gets very hot to touch. But sound quality wise it’s miles better.

Obviously depends on the quality of the music you’re playing, if it’s crappy 320kbps mp3 files it’s not going to be great. We’ll worth trying the following sites as the music is very high quality:

Amazon Music HD
Tidal
Qobuz

Few others but these 3 were good, I just preferred the layout on Amazon
