I'm going to get myself a 710 for crimbo, there's a place on the net doing it for £260 plus £50 for the traffic bit (plus vat)

I borrowed one in July, but found the ETA's to be a bit on the optimistic side.

When I put it in to the demo mode of the route I was using, it would show me going down the motorway's at 80 something mile an hour. I find that most route finders use 60 mph for motorways & 30 for non motorways.

I couldn't find anyway of changing the estimated speeds on the 700 that I borrowed, is the 710 any different or did I miss something in the menu.

I'm convinced that the TomTom PDA software starts monitoring your speeds and uses real-world data to predict your likely speed on any class of road.

When I started using it I was beating the ETA's for a long motorway runs (cruising at 90-95) by a good margin, buit over time the ETAs were pretty much spot on.

Of course I may be completely wrong and whatever, the Go units may not have the feature anyway.

I find the ETA normally to be late!
But it does update itself on the way.

And that sounds like a great deal for a 710

Ive got the ETA bit on mine. Think it works fairly well of course if you are doing 90-95mph on the motorway you will get there before the time it says but then its only planning the route by sticking the to the limit.
