Sat Nav on a Mobile
Discussion
Probably a very basic question, but I have the option to change my company mobile at the moment and I would like to change to a handset that will run Sat Nav / POI
I know that something like the Orange SPV550 etc can do this, but I'm tied to handsets that are available on Vodafone

There's a new Nokia coming out with GPS built in - http://blogs.zdnet.com/mobile-gadgete
I have an N70 Running Route 66.
I bought a bluetooth gps reciever from ebay and set it up myself as opposed to getting the kit supplied by T-Mobile (seemed very dear to me).
I don't use it often but what I have found is that Route 66 doesn't know too many postcodes, but you can select the area then street name. I tried Tom Tom on it but it just wouldn't hook up to the GPS receiver.
My biggest bugbear is that it can't usually find the reciever. I have to delete it from the bluetooth list and let it rediscover it and set it as a bluetooth device every time. My own fault for buying a cheap second hand item from ebay I suppose. But this is the second one I've used - the first one didn't work at all.
I think it's fine if you are only an occasional user like me. Although I reccomend you buy the proper Nokia Package. A friend of mine did and he seems to have no problems.
Alternatively, either wait for the new Nokia with it built in or buy a stand alone sat nav unit. They seem to be getting pretty cheap these days.
Hope this helps.
Bob.

I'm digging this thread up rather than start another one.
Believe it or not my company have only now got round to letting me have a new mobile, before I settle on an N73, I just need to check:
Do the speed camera alerts work even if you don't have a destination / mapping set?

You can configure them to no problem.

I got the Nokia N95, its got sat nav but it seems the maps are huge and eat into the memory so much video and images are very limited. I'll stick to my Garmin Nuvi for my Sat nav!

Except Sandisk have just brought out a 4Gb microSDHC card, specifically for the N91 and N95. So there you go! £50 or so - pre-order from www.mobymemory.comNick
The street level map of Western Europe is just under 1Gb.
