Older Tom Toms - any good
Discussion
There are few TT700 and TT710 models for sale on ebay and return stores for "special bargain prices".
In their day they were decent models, and usually include full euro maps etc. One company has the TT710 for £99 + VAT for example, so about £20 cheaper than a TTOne UK only model.
Are they worth buying (depending on price etc) over a newer TT One?

The 700 is better than the 710 imo, the x10 series were a full on shower of poo for tomtom; poor mounts, poor build quality, rushed product and full of bugs. The 3/5/700 series were bomb-proof pretty much and were the "de-facto" tomtom units.
I have a 700 and a 720 and imo the 720 isn't a patch on the 700 at all, it's got more toys - yes, but it's nowhere near as reliable as the 700. The x10's aren't worth the hassle imo.

I have had a 700 since they first came out.....IIRC about 4 years ago.
Still works perfectly all over UK and Europe....had the odd "freeze" but nothing that a pin in the reset button doesn't cure.
It's a bit of a large bit of kit as it has a lumpy hard drive but if it is cheap enough, go for it. I have no intention of replacing mine until it goes kaput.
Hope that answers your query?

I've got a 700, still very happy with it. The maps aren't particularly out of date, although I did get a bit lost around Verona airport as the roads were very different. Chances are a more up-to-date one would have had the same problem, though.
I keep looking for an excuse to replace it, but I haven't found one yet.

To continue a theme. Got 700 It works well. I find that even where it comes across a different road layout as it often does in areas of Spain I use it is quite easy to work out what is happening i.e there may be a roundabout where a cross road was or a new road has been put in. Buy them.
