Pogo Drive -anyone have any experience to share of the unit?
Discussion
From my search it seems quite a few months have past since the initial reviews on here. There were a few problems/bugs, which I'm now hoping will be fixed.
Like many, I'm looking for a sat-nav with good navigation, speed camera detection/alerts and full postcode search.
Any reviews on this Pogodrive, or is there a better one to go for nowadays?
Replaced my origin last week with one. Used to have a tomtom. Hmmm so far speed cam basically the same bullet proof system as before. Sat nav well thats a different story. It works however the interface is not as good as tom tom and although im still learning and havent yet done a huge amount of homework on settings it does not appear to display street names as prolificly as tomtom ie with pogo street names come up as you approach. The navigation itself is fairly good but blocky.
It has post code and street functionality much the same as tom tom but yet again layout is not as simple.
However spoke to pogo who inform me that within the next month or so there will be a firmware/software update to correct the issues raised and i have no reason to disbelieve them or that it will not end up being as easy to use as tomtom if the speed cam side of things is anything to go by.
Also bear in mind one of the major plus's of pogo is that unlike any other system i have heard of on the market (satnav or/and speed cam) it comes with a 2 year warranty return to base for any repairs. My origin went wrong twice in the two years i had it possibly because it took a battering and the wiring was always being moved from one car to another first time it went wrong sent it back they fixed and returned it all i paid was post out. Second time was two weeks ago which is when i decided to get the pogo drive. They took my origin as trade in discounted the price and sent it out same day they recieved my origin next day del.

There will be a major update on all Pogo Drive units in aprox 1/1.5 weeks time. the mapping has been redesigned and it will have the very latest Nav tec mapping installed, mobile camera locations and also the personal average speed feature that is found on the pogo alert will be included. This will happen via a normal camera update when the unit is updated. There have been issues but everything has been addressed..... i have been testing a new software installed unit and its vastly improved....
I spoke with the guys at Origin yesterday as my b2 is playing up. I was a bit taken aback in that they showed no interest in repairing the unit but wanted to sell me the new pogo system.
My problem with changing is that I have 2 Origin units shared between 3 cars. The cars all have the Origin docking units fitted and I just can't decide if it is worth changing the whole system on the 3 vehicles. I guess I can sell the still working Origin unit on ebay. I could also get some of the money back by selling my Nuvi sat nav which would also be redundant.
I think I will see what the new Pogo software is like. I understand that it will include Europen maps which really is a must for me if I am going to sell the Nuvi. I wonder if it will include European speed camera sites?
