Hi all,

I have a TT 500 and will be heading to the Alps this new year so was considering buying the
'Alps' map update on the Tom Tom website at £29.95.

However, I have noticed for another £10 you can get the Western Europe maps. Can anyone confirm whether this will give as much detail of road networks in the Alps?? If so then I will probably go for that as I am planning on a driving holiday next summer.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks
Jon

The Western Europe maps give the same detail as the UK maps. Don't though think that postcodes are the answer in Europe because where I live at Le Mans for example my post code covers three villages! You have to be more precise using the street name. I've just bought the Tom Tom 1 Europe (my first GPS) and find it pretty good over here but since I am a virgin perhaps others will be able to provide more detailed info.

Just don't leave to the last minute if using the Tom Tom download website. I wanted a map of south Africa, bought and paid for but it would not download. Their help desk only works M-F so don't leave it to the last minute..

My TT Go500 has corrupted its memory card. Copied the data over from my wifes TT one, but it now says it cant find any maps. How do I sort it out anyone? The maps are clearly there in the directory, but the Go can't access them.

Because it's illegal to use the map on more than one device (breach of copyright) and Tom Tom have protected them by locking them to whichever device they were bought for (or with).

It seems as though you never took a backup copy of your SD card, so you're in trouble. Contact Tom Tom to get help on renewing the data on the SD card. They will no doubt want you to prove your legal ownership.
