One of my wife's reps has given her tomtom 500 back to her as it wouldn't work.

as soon as you put the sd card in the unit would freeze and would not boot up. It wooldn't read in my pc's card reader.

I did a backup of my wifes TT one xl onto my pc using the tt home software and restored it to the 500 using a spare 256mb sd card I had.

The 500 boots upn to a point, but then displays a message saying 'no maps found'. Can't access any of the software from the 500 in that state, so can't really tell what the issue is.

I presume I need a backup of the 500 software to restore or should the oneXL stuff work? Does the 500 only function with a viable sd card, or will it work without? Wifeys One xl has no sd card although there is a slot for one.

Any ideas guys?

thanks,

Andy
