tom tom one probem

I have a Tom Tom One Ver 2 Regional.
The problem I have is:- when first switching it on it goes throught the boot up procedure OK and then when it gets to the splash screen (Just before it goes to the navigation screen) it switches off.
I have tried searching for updates via TOM TOM HOME 2 but it says no updates available, and as i am about to go on a touring holiday of Scotland for the new year was rather hoping to use it.
Appreciate if anybody has any ideas as TOM TOM support is now closed until after Christmas.

Have you tried the reset button on bottom of unit?

have now managed to sort it out for myself, mainly by luck not judgement, but thanks for the reply
