I'm after one for about £150 or less but ideally I'd like to use on foot as well, what's the battery life like on the popular ones at about that price??

I've got a tom tom one v2. I've used it a couple of times to navigate from car park to restaurant in an unfamiliar town centre. Battery is a couple of hours on a full charge. Certainly longer than I'll be walking for!!!

As an alternative all the Garmins allow you to change mode from vehicle to foot.

They still try to send you the long way round though. Mine wanted to send me on a 2 1/2 mile trek to reach a point that was 30yds round the corner, and would take less than a minute to walk.

Found the Garmins have much better battery life and seem to retain the charge longer between charges. TomToms are typical of Windows CE devices.

Yes, I think for my use it would really just come down to best battery life, on Garmin's website this seemed (250 or 300) to go as long as 8 hours???

P.S. Any comment on the Navman S series as the wife is probably renewing with Tesco and you get £100 off.
