After years of TomTom v2, 3 and 5 it is time to buy a new version.

What are peoples thoughts on the current range of solutions out there. Obviously I know TT but Copilot looks good to.

TT6 is excellent on WM6. I have it loaded on my partners Trion that runs WM6. I have to say the screen updating on WM6 is better than WM2003. I have TT6 on my XDA IIi and although it works extremely well it is a little bit slower than WM6.

Only thing is all these WM6 devices have a smaller screens than my IIi and i like my IIi bigtime. The only thing i have found worth updating to is an HTC X7501 when it's properly available in the UK and prices have dropped a wee bit. That has a huge screen compared to the IIi and runs WM6, with built in GPS. But until then i'll stick to my IIi and WM2003 thumbup

Any more advice on this?

My brother has CoPilot 7 which looks very impressive (nicer than TT6 IMHO), but I have heard suspect things about its routing and apparently the PC software is poor. I do like the fact you can set it to track you on a webpage so people can track your progress!

What we need is a proper comparison by somebody. I really need to buy one or the other and I just don't know which at the moment frown

I've used both on an XDA Orbit II.
CoPilot7 looks much nicer, but I found the routing strange (took me off a straight road on a different road that joined up with the same road again later). I found the timing of the directions to be off, and sometimes not at all. The estimated journey time must have assumed that there is no traffic and no traffic lights in London as it was half what tomtom showed (which is pretty accurate).

Tomtom6 looks pretty much like tomtom5 did. I'd say the maps are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Overall, the sheer annoyance that CoPilot7 gave me has stopped me from using it again (it came free with my phone). I never read the instructions for it, but I never read them for tomtom either. Maybe other people have had better luck than me, but the jazzy colours weren't enough to make me change.

I look forward to Tomtom 7 (if it ever comes out for WM6)

I have heard a whisper than TT are not denying rumours that they may not continue in the PDA market (apparently due to supporting so many devices).

Having said that, although I'm not a fan of TT's user interface and I was very impressed with CoPilot7, I'm leaning towards TT. If CP's routing is suspect then what's the point in it as satnav software?
