Garmin Newbi questions.

Just got myself a Garmin Nuvi 250W. I'm very pleased so far.

Rregarding the speed camera warning subscription.
Is the subscription only for updates or will current locations and warnings be lost or disabled after the free trial finishes?

Also. Anyone know how often the maps and info are updated. The filling station in my village has been closed over two years now yet it appeared as the nearest station to me on the unit.

It is only for updates, all the data will still be there it just won't get added to. I think you can use free sets of POI for speed cameras but I'm not sure. You'll have to check on some GPS forums for that.

Garmin issues maps yearly, check you have the 2008 version, if you recently bought the unit then you should be entitled to them and they will send a DVD out free of charge,

A lot of people subscribe to PocketGPS and download their camera database which is available for a number of Sat Navs, including Nuvi.

Subscription is £20 a year, and the camera databases are updated monthly.
