Speed camera detection options
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a 2002 M3 which has a CD Sat Nav with BMW digital road map 2002 version. Whilst I am not that bothered about the map being slightly out of date, I do want to get speed camera alerts.
The options that I can think of are:
1) Update the old disc with a new disc that has speed camera locations included
2) Add an additional Sat Nav to the dash/windscreen that has speed camera locations
3) Get a stand alone unit that just does speed camera alerts
Regarding option 1, BMW Park Lane told me that the latest discs they have don't have speed camera locations. Option 2 would be messy, who wants 2 Sat Navs in the car. Which leaves me to conclude that I need to go for option 3.
Does anyone see flaws to my logic?
Also, would be great to know if any one has experience with any standalone speed camera detectors. From my limited research on the subject Novus Alpha, Snooper Sapphire and Pogo Alert look to be good options.
Many thanks,
Scott

What I reckon is the most important feature of camera detectors is never mentioned in tests/reviews, that is they need to be hardwired so they come on with the ignition. I've had that type in all my cars for almost 10 years, starting with the original Morpheous (cost me £500 but paid for itself many times over) and now the Talex Lite
I have a Talex in each of my 3 cars, all fitted nicely behind the rear view mirror so invisible from outside but still able to pick up GPS signal. I cut off the cigi lighter plug and find 12v ignition switched for them. Done the same for at least half a dozen family and friends.
To me driving without the occasional chirp from the Talex would feel as strange as driving without a seatbelt.
