Just got one of the above and having a few probs.

When ever I rev the car it will say laser, even whilst sitting in my garage and carries on doing so every 10 seconds whilst driving.

Last night on the way home from work at midnight it detected 6 camara vans in the space of a mile and not a one in sight even on the way to work at 10am

My car is a TVR Chim.

This driving me mad, why can't things be simple, just plug in and go.

Thanks for any advice

Shoulda got a pogo. (kinda like shoulda gone to specsavers) False alerts are someothing of a rarity and completely removeable by switching certain functions on or off.

Are you talking about a R.A or a POGO

Your unit is faulty, contact blackspot over it.

The reason they've yelled pogo is Roadangels used to be very well made products and potentially more relaible and up to date than the Origin offerings of the time (time to don asbestos suit), these days there are big question marks over there newer products (though post RA+), while Origin, nee Pogo, have become the new top dog.

Also those 'individuals' either have failed to read how you've already bought the unit, or are being petty and vindictive (which is unusual here outside of car flame wars (911 vs GT-R anyone biggrin ).

If I were you, I'd contact Blackspot to get them to replace your unit, and see how a second works out.

Thanks for that, bit of a bummer really as my other half bought as a B/day pressy.
Forgot to say that dosn't happen in my daily driver, only in the TVR.
Had to buy a antena (£22) for the Pug as it has a U.V. screen.
Oh why can't life be simplerolleyes

See i would dispute that as i used to have an origin and had to send it in as the gps started playing up and borrowed a friends RA (this was around two yrs ago now) and although he updated it the day before i used it, it was horrific going off every five secs when there were no cameras and failing to go off when there were.

To my mind the pogo alert is the best of the bunch though i freely concede i have not tried any of the competition barring the ra.Only real problem with it is the cost as at 250 last time i checked there are loads from other brands for less. The man who really knows whats what round here though is as i say MADT350.

Been in contact with RA, they said someone from there tech dept would call me back, 5mins later they did. Explained the situation re the TVR, got put on hold whilst he consulted his buddies. He came back and explained the it would not work in a TVR due to 'lack of insulation whilst on top of the dash' therefore picking up too many electrical signals from the motor.
So just got home and put the unit up by the mirror gave it a few revs and no alarm. Put it back on the dash and sure enough it went off when given some revs.
Question is does it have to be lower down to be affective as I have read that when a laser is being pointed at you they target the number plate.
And does it matter anyway as it only takes a second or two to be zapped and you can't slow down fast enough.
And would this be the case with all teflon cars.

Shouldnt matter too much as the laser pick ups are not all that effective anyway and whether up by rearview mirror or just above dash also should make no diff but to be sure you could angle it nose down slightly so the laser is effectively pointing at the road just ahead of your bumper.

Laser is merely to let you know you have been zapped so you can tell whether to expect a ticket or not.

Same on my Chim with a Road Angel. I too end up with it by the mirror which actually works quite well. The cause is the rev counter pulse from the coil, which reaches about 300v. You could try screening this cable (i.e. cover in foil and attach to a ground), but don't try putting foil or mesh inside the dash top or else your key remote won't work!

Ian.

Thanks for that Ian, have only tried it in the garage at the moment. If weather permitting will be going to Goodwood breakfast club this Sunday. So will see if all works OK
Thanks
