Bought a shiny new 530. Plugged into PC as recommended , it lists a load of updates. Click here to download and install. Ok did that. 5 minutes later download complete, error message on screen 'install failed' , looks like the file it downloaded was corrupt. And thats it, one dead tomtom. ffs

Just filling out the RMA return to send it back for a refund.

Piss well and truly boiled.

why not just redownload it...

what's exactly failed - do you get a red x on the screen when starting it up? if so - plug it into TT Home, go to "Delete from my TomTom" or whatever it's called on the new incarnation, remove the item that says "TomTom System Software", it'll prob complain and say it results in an invalid configuration - ok it, then redownload the updates - that should sort it.

Yep its the red X. TT Home wont work with it, just says the TT has an invalid version of the software on it. Likewise if I try to update it, it downloads an update but then fails wth the same error message.

Anyway all sorted now, its being picked up tomorrow and a credit being arranged and I've ordered another one which should arrive tomorrow. This time I will be saying NO to any upgrades TT Home offers me !
