Anyone else got one of these, the one where the TomTom clicks into a circular mount which is attached to the suction cup? The one with a twist dial to make the sucker stick down?

Is it just me that can't get the damn thing to stick down properly? The dial thing just springs back when I try to attach it and it will then stay only loosely stuck down before eventually dropping off. Are there any decent "permanent" mounts for these?

I use a brodit mount (the car one was there already for a nokia kit I removed, bought the tomtom one), and it's excellent. My tomtom gets almost daily use and the suction cup falling off the windscreen was driving me mad.

Brodit is definitely the way to go. You'll need to buy it in two parts :

1. The base bracket which is specific to the car, (and location within the car; e.g. there are 4 different ones for my Volvo).

2. The mounting bracket specific to the SatNav unit, which then attaches to 1. above.

Superb and worth the money IMO.

You need to learn about stereos!! Alpine are (without spending £silly money) the best bang-per-buck car stereos on the market today!

The standard Alfa Blaupunkt system is shockingly ste in comparison smile

I spend anything from one to four hours a day in the car. No MP3/ipod support would drive me mad - the Alpine is far better at hanging onto radio stations too.

I have the same mount...couple of suggestions..

1. Have you removed the plastic film from the suction 'cup'?
2. If you have and it still doesn't stick, then try licking the mounting side of the cup first.

Personally, I find the new mount really good...it'll stick to my kitchen table given half a chance!
