Looking at a Sat nav for europe.
I have had TOMTOM before and like it, but don't live the problems people seem to be having with the 720 ( The one I am looking at )
I have tried Snooper and HATE it.
Garmin seems to be liked.
Can anyone tell me the current map providers for the above and which is best?

I found it clunky which I could live with, but I used it to go from my house to Esher Monday and it took me miles around the houses. I went with its route to start with, but then as I started doubting, I stopped and looked at the route. Way off plot, not fastest, shortest, and not even sensible. Grrrrr.
I am now wondering on a Garmin.

I've never made any secret about who I work for in previous posts, so although I have an interest in Snooper I will be objective; There are 2 main providers of mapping - TeleAtlas and NAVTEQ. The latter is often deemed to be the premium provider but I'm sure you will find just as many supporters of the former. If they were mobile phones it would be like arguing over Nokia and HTC or Sony Ericsson. I am now wondering on a Garmin.
TeleAtlas are the number one providers of mapping in the UK (largely down to Tom Tom). However, NAVTEQ are the number one in Europe. You can draw you're own conclusions from that.
I am principally concerned with your post above. I have looked at your profile and got a general idea what part of the country you are from. I then used one of our units to plot a route from Gloucester to Esher and used Google Maps (TeleAtlas) to do likewise. The resulting routes are virtually identical (save the exact start and finish points). I'd therefore appreciate and be happy for you contact outside of this forum so I can investigate your issue further.
On the point about reliability, I'd just like to point out that all our units come with a 24 month warranty, not the usual 12 months.

ive been researching the market 4 weeks, thought id sorted out my choice to snooper syrius proline. upgrading to try and stop the narrow lane syndrome that my garmin 310d sends me.
I had dismissed tom tom ,even though i like the sound of the IQ system research seems to show this likes narrow lanes more than ever
.However on speaking to member MADT350 (fair play to him as he sells them)he told me his snooper found a narrow lane which ended with a gate at the end.Might as well keep what ive got.
If you could input "no unclassified roads" like you can motorways, job done none of them do wonder why?
