Had the above for about 2 years, dont use it that regularly, but noticed that gradually the amount of time the battery lasts has reduced, meaning that now I can not even switch the thing on unless in 'plugged in'. Any other experiences of this? Can I renew the battery myself, or is it a send it off job?

Thanks.

Did you attempt any looking up or just ask the question and hope for the best?

30 seconds of googling (if that) gave up this link: http://www.megacapacity.com/gps-tomtom-v2.html which shows the battery has a simple connector on it. Open the back, swap the battery, put it back together, done.

Used the search function on here, nothing. Googled it, found nothing conclusive which explained if its replaceable (but loads of offers of cheap Tom Toms), hence my question, I am not that daft, nor lazy.

Clearly your google skills are far superior to mine, thanks.........But I wont bother again to ask a simple question to see if anyone had a similar experience to mine (which if you read my OP again, I did actually ask)which you generally can't find by googling.

thanks for the sarcasam... simple answer would have been sufficient thanks.

So, back to my orginal post - anyone else had problems with their battery fading as described?

I give as I receive smile

it's li-ion, they do fade over time especially a v2 unit which will be circa 2006. I've had plenty through my hands that have had the same problem in the past. The battery is a consumable item.
