Driving in London it's a really convenient feature and with the high levels of ambient light glare is less likely to be a problem. Captain cynic ...you are showing what an arse you are by your comments, get over yourself, if you can't get your car into gear and get going from a standing start without out holding people up behind you, then maybe you should be considering your ability to stay on the road. If you read my comments you should understand that we are not all supermen like you, and maybe you should consider other road users and not just yourself.

ADI’s don’t now teach changing down the gears to slow or stop. One selects the gear for the speed once the speed is reached. The same as advanced driving using IPSGA. It’s been this way for about 20 years. Maybe the instructor has been in hibernation :-0As for using gear, he's being taught to work down through them as he slows although this is of no damn use in a 1 series where it rev matches and the engine is so tiny there's little engine braking effect. That caught me out first time!

So, driving in town and want to turn left into a side road? Unless third is needed, you would perhaps be in 4th, brake down to turning speed, and then block change down to 2nd gear just before turning.m

Wow, you resurrected a thread just to have a go at me, I'm not the arse here.Being able to not hold people up is a superpower it seems as few people can do it on the A329.
But then again, you think I'm an arse because I dont like holding people up and keeping my vehicle ready to move is inconsiderate to road users... Let me give you some advice, before you post things you should have someone else read it back to you to make sure it doesn't sound insane.
Keeping myself ready to move off when the lights change is not thinking of others? The mind boggles.
