I think he has said he doesn't want to do any training for learner's licence acquisition, his interest is in training established licence holders.

Yep he did, but in my experience "full licence" holders are more of a challenge than learners.

The type of people OP wants are more than likely already IAM/Rospa, track day fans , and then less likely to want his undoubted skills

Maybe, but I do it without delivering to any learners.
I just haven't pigeon holed myself to 'performance cars'.

As an ADI you can get involved in speed & mobile phone awareness courses so no learners. Also fleet with the likes of Pertemps where you evaluate predominately Royal Mail drivers, although the pay with them is much lower than cat B training. You also don’t need to be fleet registered to do that either.

Or you could train to be an examiner, wether that be for cat B or doing standards checks on ADI’s, no need to be an ADI yourself, your current experience is more than they ask for anyway and you could dicatate your hours I’d Imagine.

1) If you get your ADI I might be able to help you with getting some additional work in the future (but your reasoning for not wanting to go the Hendon route may mean it doesn't suit you as it would involve national or even international travel & it won't be performance car orientated).
2) I don't have a Clio.

Interesting to read that Von thanks. If I did make the jump, travelling about to work would not be such an issue. Its the continual Hendon slog that doesn't currently suit.

I note you sold the Clio on ;-)

It would involve travel & time away (a week at a time maybe). No opening at the moment but possibly in the future as a fill in around any other work you have.

One rather important point that I haven’t seen on this thread ( I could have missed it) is that to be paid for driving instruction by law you must be an ADI, whatever that instruction might be. As for an ex cop or advanced driver becoming an ADI. The hazard perception test is really difficult and without hour of practice you will fail. You will be clicking every thing you think might be a hazard. It doesn’t work like that. You need to be clicking for developing hazards which is hard as this is not how an advanced driver drives. Also part 2 is not as easy as you would think. If you drive to an advanced standard you could be too progressive and you will need to do more signalling than you would normally and as for reversing!

Yes, but to be accurate not all driving instruction.
In cars you do, save for exemptions such as training Police or more generally also if you haven't yet qualified as an ADI but are a PDI, but you don't have to at all for vocational licence vehicles etc. The register for them is voluntary rather than mandatory as it is for cars.

Have you considered blue light instructor? They are rare as rocking horse and very much in demand especially by Police and Ambulance.

It's doable, others have done it hower it's seasonal....especially the bikes. I'm was a four two for nearly 10 years and since I left I freelance with RapidTraining around other work that I do. Rapid have that same mantra you talk about, I really enjoy it, meet some really good people and get paid to ride on my time off.
