Cars least likely to contain advanced drivers
Discussion
I passed my IAM Test in probably the type of car OP was hoping to have as a response in this thread.
Examiner was an Ex-Traffic Cop and I was in a Mk1 Seat Leon FR TDI, lowered to within an inch of it's life (I have since learned my lesson), BBS Alloys, Big Induction Kit and running around 180bhp. Type of car means very little!

He does have a point.
At least an x trail doesn't have the Stigma a RR /X5 carries ie, goofy nerdy bellend driver..
Did you post on here as 22rgt B Squadron a couple of years ago, the walt who claimed he was in the SAS? He lived in Norfolk and Malaga as well. What's the chances At least an x trail doesn't have the Stigma a RR /X5 carries ie, goofy nerdy bellend driver..
If so your posting style hasn't changed much

3. Any Volvo. Strange that these have been the vehicle of choice for incompetents for so many years.
Strange that Volvos have been the vehicle of choice for advanced drivers who use their cars in the severe weather conditions encountered in northern Europe (ice and snow) and African (desert) countries for many years.......Efbe said:
Is this referring to people who think they are Advanced Drivers, or people that actually Advanced Drivers.
Huge difference.
After 40 years of driving and being an ex driving instructor, and passed my ADI test,I still don't know what an "Advanced Driver" is?Huge difference.
There are just good, bad, and competent drivers

Reminds me of a comment made many years ago by my father (a now retired paramedic). There are just good, bad, and competent drivers
"Advanced drivers are usually the ones with IAM badges on their car who explain at great length the precise reason they ended up, upside-down in the ditch..."
Whilst that's made tongue-in-cheek I do know personally one IAM/ADI bore who thinks he's utterly invincible and has 'fallen off the road' due to every reason except his driving more times than he'd ever publicly admit.
After a few weeks of limited practice, I fear the answer to the OP's question may be all cars, including mine. For a week or so, we all need to pay extra attention, leave wider margins, think harder and expect everything. And before someone replies that's what we should always do - well do it even more!

I’m amazed this thread is still going, not everyone was amused by my tongue in cheek suggestions. However, you are right, and it’s not only rustiness on the part of the drivers/motorcyclists. Other road users have become accustomed to the cars not being there and lots of new etiquette has appeared. Cyclists give each other a wide berth when overtaking and will move into prime or even out to the white line when passing pedestrians. Runners will use the road to give other pedestrians room as will separate groups of pedestrians. Any driver who refuses to adapt to this new world is not ‘advanced’.Baldchap said:
I did IAM in car (an exercise in obeying rules) and RoSPA (focus on making progress and decent, safe riding, rather than blindly obeying rules) on bike.
I've done all three sins listed in the first post.
I was under the impression that RoSPA was a lot stricter than IAM in terms of 'rigidity' - if it's not the case, I might have to look them up...I've done all three sins listed in the first post.
