Right turn requires clear on both carriageways simultaneously, so the right turner will still be there long after the left turner has gone.
It depends on the road, but a lot of the time in 30/40mph zones where I'm the right turner (and there is a gap to my right), I will move the car across the junction to see if I can get some charity from traffic coming from the left. This cover gives the left turner(s) the opportunity to go.

This is probably one of the many reasons more choose to drive SUV's than sports cars, just pull up beside a car and look over it therefore not having to get upset, or put out by other drivers at all.

With the added advantage of being able to block their view.

Can also be useful to feel safe while tailgating/intimidating people. HGV drivers use this height feature all the time.

But it's not tailgating if you can see over the car in front everyone knows that smile
