Maybe try giving an arm signal as well as the indicator. I've used it in a few situations which have helped make my intentions clear.

If nothing else you could grab yourself a nearside mirror from a mini biglaugh

This is a genuinely useful idea - there's somewhere very similar where I do that.

The clue is in his PH name, Toyota century I would guess, but you're right he needs to be more positive with his road positioning to avoid confusion.

I would not angle it because if hit from behind you will be pushed into oncoming traffic

I'm having a vaguely similar issue now that neighbours opposite are parking their daughter's recently purchased learner-mobile on the road.

It's directly opposite our entry and when I indicate right to turn in, following vehicles think I'm doing so to pass it and are surprised when I don't simply drive on by.

Worse when having to stop for vehicles from the opposite direction. The car behind then usually expects me to accelerate past, getting close to contact when I turn in. A blast of the horn sometimes follows.

It's a relatively quiet road so if there's a car behind I now pull in to the left and stop, and then turn right when the road is clear.

Doesn't help the OP but there's only so much you can do when sharing the road with so many unobservant and impatient drivers.

I can see the issue(s). Probably also when you wait for oncoming cars and they helpfully stop and flash you through!

No one had yet given you the credit for being able to get a 44 tonne HMV through that turn.

Indeed, that exact scenario is why I now pull in behind the parked car and wait until it clears. However now having two cars to pass also appears to irritate those approaching from behind...

...and the helpful flashers also get the hump when you don't move.

Can't win sometimes but at least I'm not going to get bumped from behind. Thankfully it doesn't happen regularly.

As said, that is where a hand signal will help. Almost pointing to the turn in. Also positioning your car so that it does not look like a simple overtake, which may mean stopping further back.

Another idea, someone above may have already suggested...

Why don't you start with hazards so the car behind knows you're doing something unusual and is hopefully cautious, then once you've pulled left and the person behind has clock the hazards, switch to indicating right?

Failing that is it a mad idea to get a digital display for your rear window to display a suitable message?

I've done the hand signal but at night in the pouring rain that's not the best idea for a few reasons. Simpler and more effective just to pull in and stop, or if that causes issues, to continue, turn around and then turn in from the left.

I like the idea of a display connected to indicators. 'GET THE fk AWAY FROM ME!' hehe

Apologies to 21st Century Man for the thread hijack. getmecoat
