I use the CC on my car all the time on the motorway. It doesn't mean I'm lazy, it just makes the journey a damn site easier, especially if its a long trip.

What next, complaining about power steering?

Pesky power steering, and that goddamn servo assisted brakes, all getting in the way of an enjoyable jaunt down the motorway... Fangio never had CC...

I had CC in Syracuse 13221 NY on my Chevy Impala

Good friend of mine lives in N Syracuse, (I'm SE of Syracuse). Just down Taft road

The winter is why I got rid of the A4 and got somewhat of a a mud plugger!

We lived at 850 Vine Street Liverpool - a continuation of West Taft Road as I recall...we did not see the pavements or road surfaces from December until end of March.

Managed to get to the office every day - the favourite guy at lunchtime was an ex RAF pilot from Northampton - had a manual Volvo that got us to Mr Steak and back and got Barry a free lunch.

Despite my comments on the driving education - they sure knew how to handle snow...2" closes Heathrow and British Rail.

It certainly makes the winters interesting! I'd get up in t'mornin and find a fot or two sat upon car! Tok a good 15 minutes to get it clear, then you have to plough a path through to the ploughed bit of road! Not god for bumpers, hence the isuzu! Do you know Hafners?? Regular haunt of mine, and then accross to fresno's for the 32 oz steins!

Andy,

I was there with my wife and two kids - never been to Haffners...been a LOT to Liverpool Liquor near the library...and Murphys Trackside was THE burger place - probably long gone to McDs or Burger King?

We did Toronto a couple of times to visit Glasgow relatives - they got the Sunday Mail and Post there earlier than we get them in Essex - Niagara was almost frozen over on one visit.

Billy Connoly tells a story..."Cold?...you think Niagara is cold?
I was in a motel in Inverness last month - got to bed and found a brown ice cube under the sheet - threw it in the fire...as it melted it went FAAART!"
I adapted this to Buffalo...got a few giggles.

Cruise control? I wouldn't be without it, just another piece of technology to remove stress from driving. Automatic speed control is just one of many options fitted to our vehicles to add pleasure to driving, there are still some courteous drivers around who are happy to stay within the speed limits. Many of the comments in this thread suggest an element of envy from those who do not have the option of "cruising" in their car. Then there was a suggestion that cruise control takes control away from the driver, that implies a lack of confidence in their own driving ability to me.
How many drivers remember the good old days before automatic chokes, climate control, demisters, central locking, radios finding the best signal etc etc. The point being that they were all manual intervention jobs, just like watching the speedo and constantly adjusting the accelerator to suit. How many drivers pleaded "I didn't notice wot speed I was doing officer" to justify excessive speed, when cruise control could have helped avoid the inevitable conviction / fixed penalty.
While cruise control will never appeal to the Dukes of hazard drivers, there is a time and place for it to be used and I enjoy having that option.
Have a nice day folks.

I agree that used with car CC can be a great driving aid. Sure, if you switch it on and your brain off, then it's not good. Likewise, if the traffic's too heavy. It makes for a much more relaxed drive if you pop it on at 70 on a clear motorway, rest your legs, and concentrate more on observation without worrying about whether you are breaking the limit.

Use mine mostly in motorway roadworks though.
