Dave - are we still talking cars?

It's to be hoped so. I seem to be getting a bit aged for some other aspects of 'performance'; something about the spirit being willing but the flesh being weak, or some such saying. It's all a bit sad really. cry

Never mind, I'll have a chat with Eileen and see if we can figure something out. idea

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Oh, I see; it's THAT weekend is it? Woo-hey David!
Better practice matching your revs.

Hey, I know things ain't what they were but we're not yet confined to weekends only.

....but it's been a while since it was twice nightly! laugh

I think we maybe ought to get back to talking about cars.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

tend to left foot brake for the numpties who seem to think that by being right behind my rear bumper will make me drive faster. had one this afternoon, passed him later driving at less than 50 mph, but when he drove onto the dual carriagway, he was flashing me to get out of the way at 70 mph, few miles later it was not all the urgent...

Brake testing others isn't something I'd be proud of.

I have been left foot braking for nearly twenty years. Learn`t how to do it rallying FWD cars with too much power. I use this technique on the road and has become a habit now. IMO it has no benifit at all on dry tarmac, but comes into its own in damp or wet conditions in FWD cars.
As already mentioned, first timers be careful, I nearly went through the screen first time!
Basically, its a fine balance of power and your left foot acting as a diff to prevent spin and gain traction. With practice and when its done right, its is a far more involving/enjoyable driving experience than having ASC, PSC or EBA driving for you.

Trying to left foot brake in my MR2 was the only time i've ever spun it, and it was at about 5mph as well, just stepped out and kept going, leaving me feeling like an idiot. I still have a lot to learn, at least my heel and toe changes are getting better...

I can left foot brake perfectly - it's a pity that its of absolutely no use in the Griff!

I learned it over a few years of having to drive a wallowy old Ford Scorpio Automatic as my cheap winter car and driving 2-footed made it far easier, smoother and yeah, more fun. The spacing of the pedals in Autos is the real facilitating factor in making them much easier to "teach" your leftie what to do. In lots of footwells your left foot is so contorted to reach the brake that it's no wonder it's impossible to meter out the right amount of pressure.

So, Ford Scorpio. There's your answer ... didn't say you were going to like it
