So at my high school they offer a drivers education program over the summer. So I asked my dad if I could sign up.

He says no because, and i quote, 'Teens are 45 times more likley to get in a crash you know...'
(Followed up by, in the dark, when it's raining, and if you have 3 other teenage passengers with you)((like that's actualy gonna' happen))

I'm gonna' be just as stupid, dangerous, and unexperienced if I start driving at age 40 if I did tommrow.

So I am in need of some kind of car control course that I can take in the U.S.A. (i'm gonna' take driver's ed of course). Preferably with manual gearboxes and such, instead of those 'i can't drive' auto boxes that 80% of americans use.

ANY sort of help would be highly appreciated...

Having driven more miles than I care to count, seen several really stupid accidents and countless examples of really poor driving, I would say your desire to get as much training as possible is pure wisdom on your part.
I did a number of rather advanced driving courses but one bit of advice I got, sticks out above all else.

When your are driving, be it on a road, race track or off-road in the middle of nowhere, just remember that anybody else you might meet, driving, riding or on foot, is a much bigger bloody fool that you gave them credit for. If you give them enough room to make their mistakes without getting involved in them, you might just have enough room to make one or two of your own without involving anyone else.

most teens when they past test, can only know how to drive the car, not how to drive it safely. you should try again with parents, but find some site that gives quotes of how much better trained teenagers are than the untrained, guess some advanced driver sites will have that info. then u can should ur dad what a good idea it will be to get training..

when i was 17-18, got a motorbike, had to get training within 2 years and went on to almost kill myself a few times, going along some road, indicating left after already having turned left, did not realise was still indicating, so a great big dirt truck decides it is safe to pull out, i swerve into the path of another truck wanting to turn towards me... after that put beepers on the indicators.
