Ok, so I watched road wars last night 
(I am ill and so was bored OK). Whilst I suspect it is less likely to be regular viewing fodder of this forum than most others on PH, it is nevertheless this forum's views I want.
There was a bit on a police car in a layby (I think) filming cars coming round left hander and starting to overtake... a few metres before the double white lines ended. This was "suicidal". You couldn't tell 100% from the camera angle but it did appear to me that by using the sort of overtaking techniques discussed here you could get have had a clear view and thus make a safe overtake. The fact that so many cars were doing it supports my view. Anyone else see this and have the same immediate thought?
At the other extreme there was a chavette who got nicked because the BiB saw her 14yr old daughter smoking a spliff as mum drove her to school, without a license, insurance etc. She was miffed with police because they made getting daughter to school more stresssful.

I didn't see that particular programme, but I do know of locations where the double white lines continue too far (IMHO) which means that the start of your overtake needs to be delayed if you wish to remain legal. One of these is where you go over the brow of a hill on a very fast SC, and once you're over the top and looking down the other side you have all the vision you could wish for and could go immediately, but the linework holds you back for another fifty yards or so. I suppose it's arranged like that to allow for the reduced vision of Mr db sitting down there on his skateboard.
