Hello, I am new here. I learned a lot by reading the posts here. But I found one thing that was quite inconvenient that I had to go through page by page to read previous posts. Each time I log in I have to turn the pages from the beginning that I have read to the previous unread posts. Is there a index function that I can directly reach a page I want to read or some other feature that functions the same but I am just not aware of?

Thanks.

Li

Glad you are enjoying this forum. I do not believe that there is such a function as the one that you speak of.

Thanks for your input.

Lord Grover, I was directed to the feeback section by your link. There was a similar post in the first several pages which was not properly answered. And I did not want to dig into the pages again. So I would just accept this particular layout which maybe have its own point.

when you load up the most recent page of the forum, it'll probably be this URL:
"www. pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?f=154&h=0"

Click onto the second page and you'll get this URL:
"www. pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?f=154&h=0&p=1&faq=False"

(I've put a space after www. to stop it trying to make it a link)

Note the 1 I've put in bold on the second URL. If instead you wanted page 8, replace the 1 with 8 as below...

"www. pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?f=154&h=0&p=8&faq=False"

You should go to page 8. However, I don't know about finding particular threads by URL (I only just figured out the bit above cos you asked).

Hope it helps, if not, then sorry...

You can set the preferences for your account to return the newest messages at the top of the page - I think that's what you're trying to achieve?

Thanks Leon. Your method did work. For instance, I needed to input number 7 if I wanted to go directly to page 8 because the default setting for page 1 is 0. Now it saves me a lot of time.

Green, sorry for the ambiguity in my words. I actually wanted to go directly to the older posts rather than the newest one.
