I'd like to share a story...

I was taught to DDC by my brother many years ago when I drove a 1200cc Beetle ( full synchro ). I spent some time arguing the toss with him about using on changing up as well as down but as with most arguments with him I did what I was told rather than suffer a good kicking!
A few years later when I took my IAM in the bug DDC'ing had become 2nd nature and my examiner made a positive comment on my technique. Several years later the same said examiner came back to give our IAM group a talk now that he had been promoted to be the Chief Examiner of the IAM. During his talk he spoke of a young man who showed his VW Beetle the upmost sympathy by the use of DDC up and down the box. Now if DDC is good enough for Trevor Poxon then its good enough for me!

I will admit to using it sparingly around town but I DDC up and down the box religiously when I am travelling quickly. It feels good and it feels right.

On a side note I have also been fortunate enough to have been driven by willibetz on several trackdays and there arent many people smoother at travelling fantastically quickly.

Thanks gentleman (ladies), my uncle spent 40 years in the RAF then did 5 years driving for the Britsh Embassy in Belgium, sounds like maybe he knew a thing or two about driving.
