Hi guys,
Being relatively new to the forums I'm not sure what has gone on so apologies first of all.
I have just booked myself onto the IAM course, due to start in Sept, but having had a quick look on here I've seen ROSPA mentioned frequently.
Can anyone inform me of any differences/which is the better option etc?
Thanks,
M

This has been discussed recently here - Main difference is that with RoSPA,it is graded Gold Silver and Bronze... you get a written report and do a retest every three years.

I guess the 'normal' approach is to do the IAM Test first and go on to RoSPA...some thoughts are that an IAM pass would be equal to a RoSPA Silver...not my personal opinion, just what I have read.

Neither is the "better" option. To all intents and purposes they are the same. You will learn the same things and be required to do the same things in order to pass. Rospa's Advanced Drivers Association (RoADA) grades your pass as BOF mentions (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and requires a re-test every three years if you wish to remain a member. The IAM do not re-test - although you can take an assessment any time you wish and can do the "Special Assessment" if you think you're VXR enough. The regular IAM test is "recommended for membership" or "not recommended". The Special Assessment is a percentage. I've not done the S.A. - perhaps one day.

My advice is to go with whichever local group is most convenient and has the most active training regime.
