Anyone else going to this on the 14th?

I got invited after seeing a post on here months ago. Really looking forward to it, not quite sure what to expect though!

Its fallen at a very good time - I've just got a new car with approximately twice the power of my existing one, so a good opportunity to learn about that side of things.

Hoping to have an enjoyable day, I think theres also the opportunity to drive some other cars aswell, and of course maybe a learn/improve on some skills.

Any experience of this HPC lot?

I'll be there... I have to really, I'm one of the speakers.

There won't be the opportunity to drive other cars, not least because the insurance issues with a disparate group of younger drivers of variable abilities would make most insurers want to go for a swift lie down.

The basic format of the day (I think we're sticking to the same format as last year) is:

1) Registration and a bacon buttie
2) Introduction to what the Club's about and some talking about being an artist with your driving
3) Demo drives from members in their cars
4) Lecture or Observed drives
5) Lunch
6) Another talk about how to read bends
7) Another demo drive
8) Lecture or Observed drives (If you did the lecture in the morning you'll be having an observed drive and vice versa)
9) Final Q&A session with the experts.

errr... that's it methinks. The 'lectures' are about basic track driving and how to corner a car in optimal fashion.

Dave,

I promise at the next Committee to raise to possibility of going by mental age rather than actual one laugh

who, what, when, where? Is it by invite only?
Would it be suitable for "wee" Berts?

I've got a place at the day. Panicking at the moment as I'm in the middle of sorting a new job, place to live, and get my car through its MoT/ fix all its niggling problems.

Not quite sure what it's going to be like, I only own a Punto Sporting but it'll be interesting what I can learn, especially since I'll be driving lots more once I'm in my new job (heading 'home' every few weekends, 500-mile round trip!)

It doesn't matter what car you've got. It's all about the driver, not the car.

Look forward to seeing you there.

I went last year and had a great day. It was a long drive down from Yorkshire but well worth it. I came away inspired and have now passed my IAM test. My goal is now HPC membership but it's being held back by a lack of funds frown
