Has there or will there ever be a competition or similar for a Pistonhead member to win the chance to go for an advanced driving day with one of our resident pursuit trained police officers. Whether that be spending the day with them as an observer or just a few hours ironing out bad habits & such like?

Yours hopefully,
MK4Slowride.

That can be arranged, but only for a weekend. Done that 100's of times. I leave a car in a shopping center with a boat load of entry cards & BMW pens and a deposit box. They beg, they demand, they don't fully complete the entry card but those that tick all the right boxes win! I've had to phone 20 odd people on many occasions until I found a winner.

I'd give up my time to be the "prize" if someone wants to organise the competition. It wouldn't be during duty time I'm afraid, but I'd be happy to give up a day off.

Top man, I could arrange for a discounted service of sorts for your BMW to try and make it more worth your while.

Sounds good to me! Feel free to PM me if you want to organise a competition and we'll discuss it away from the forums.

Fantastic, I'm not going to be in a position to do anything until Monday as I'm home now & my email is a works one. I've got a good idea of how to proceed & I think the people on here will enjoy toiling to get the answers.

There's loads of people at the BBC who are used to organising competitions who no longer have anything to do... smile

If you want a drive with Reg, why not drop him a note and see if you can sort a time, if he's willing. Most enthusiasts I know are only too willing to go out for a drive at the merest semblance of an excuse...and you could hold the camera for him. How are the vids coming along? biggrin

I'm off down to South Wales on Tuesday with the video kit and I've three days to do a bit of filming, so after editing, etc, they should be ready for posting towards the end of next week.

Cool. Have fun down there. I'd come and be your target vehicle, but apparently I have to go to work during the daytimes. Shucks.

I live in Gloucestershire so will be right close to your filming Reg, maybe even en route. Do you seriously require a cameraman? I volunteer.

Thanks for the offer, but I've got a cameraman this time. I'll bear you in mind for the future though!

On what roads will you be filming?

I haven't the foggiest idea. I don't know the area, which will make for some more honest drives as I'll genuinely be reading the roads rather than driving them with prior knowledge.

What is the nearest town?

Some good roads along the coast I remember from my cycling days. Pretty rubbish surfaces in areas but good fun in a good car. Should make for some interesting filming.

Thats my area roughly, Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan.

The b2465 between Llantwit and St. Brides Major can be enjoyable, NSL most of the way, except when you pass through the 30 limit in Wick.

If you need any info on roads, I'll try my hardest to help.

I'm confident the competition I have planned will be a peach. Not only for the prize, courtesy of R U LOCAL but for the manner in which it is presented and awarded. I will no doubt need the mods assistance in this, so if your reading mods I will be in touch make sure it's good with you. Although I will need to know how do I go about this, is it in the FAQ's? Reason being I'm not the most computer literate, I devote the brain power more towards the vehicles powered by engines. biggrin
